{"id":18623,"date":"2024-04-16T13:19:15","date_gmt":"2024-04-16T13:19:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=18623"},"modified":"2024-04-16T13:19:16","modified_gmt":"2024-04-16T13:19:16","slug":"progress-update-on-parika-and-bartica-stellings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/progress-update-on-parika-and-bartica-stellings\/","title":{"rendered":"Progress Update on Parika and Bartica Stellings"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p>By Delicia Janniere<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Public Works Minister Juan Edghill has provided an update on the rehabilitation works at the Parika and Bartica Stellings. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rehabilitation efforts are underway at both the Parika and Bartica Stellings to enhance their capacity to accommodate vessels and increased traffic. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gryphon Engineering Inc. was awarded a $103 million contract in November 2023 for the Parika Stelling&#8217;s rehabilitation, with works progressing steadily. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Minister Edghill noted the completion of works to facilitate the use of roll-on, roll-off ferries MV Sabanto and Kanowan after a brief interruption.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, progress at the Bartica Stelling is lagging behind schedule, prompting Minister Edghill to urge for accelerated efforts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project, retendered to K&amp;K Construction and Hardware Supplies for $553 million in March 2023, aims to address setbacks since 2017. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite challenges, including the need to continue ferry operations during construction, Minister Edghill emphasized the importance of meeting deadlines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the time of retendering, works at the Bartica Stelling were reported to be 30 percent completed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Delicia Janniere Public Works Minister Juan Edghill has provided an update on the rehabilitation works at the Parika and Bartica Stellings.
