{"id":18586,"date":"2024-04-15T22:27:00","date_gmt":"2024-04-15T22:27:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=18586"},"modified":"2024-04-15T22:27:06","modified_gmt":"2024-04-15T22:27:06","slug":"letter-of-intent-signed-for-offshore-patrol-vessel-to-enhance-guyanas-coast-guard","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/letter-of-intent-signed-for-offshore-patrol-vessel-to-enhance-guyanas-coast-guard\/","title":{"rendered":"Letter of Intent Signed for Offshore Patrol Vessel to Enhance Guyana&#8217;s Coast Guard"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p>By Josiah Williams<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Guyana is set to bolster its offshore patrolling capabilities with the signing of a letter of intent for the procurement of an offshore patrol vessel. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At a contract signing ceremony held at the office of the Minister of Finance, Dr. Ashni Singh, a letter of intent was signed between the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) and OCEA S.A., a French company, for the construction and supply of the vessel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Minister Singh revealed that the contract is valued at \u20ac39.5 million, covering the cost of the vessel, equipment, and integrated logistics support services, including training for a period of five years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Expressing satisfaction with French-Guyanese business relations, Minister Singh emphasized the significance of such partnerships for Guyana&#8217;s development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Brigadier Omar Khan, Chief of Defence, highlighted the strategic importance of the vessel, stating that it will enhance Guyana&#8217;s maritime surveillance and security capabilities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The vessel will be instrumental in conducting surveillance, monitoring the exclusive economic zone, responding to search and rescue missions, and controlling maritime pollution risks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The procurement of the offshore patrol vessel aligns with President Ali&#8217;s vision of strengthening Guyana&#8217;s air and sea defense fleet, which has recently seen acquisitions of aircraft and ships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>OCEA S.A., with over 30 years of experience in shipbuilding and logistics support, is recognized for its expertise in tailoring vessels to meet customers&#8217; needs.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Josiah Williams Guyana is set to bolster its offshore patrolling capabilities with the signing of a letter of intent for the procurement of an offshore patrol vessel.
