{"id":18414,"date":"2024-04-12T01:42:23","date_gmt":"2024-04-12T01:42:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=18414"},"modified":"2024-04-12T01:42:25","modified_gmt":"2024-04-12T01:42:25","slug":"guyana-badminton-associations-easter-tournament-showcases-top-players","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/guyana-badminton-associations-easter-tournament-showcases-top-players\/","title":{"rendered":"Guyana Badminton Association&#8217;s Easter Tournament Showcases Top Players"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p>By Travis Seymour<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Guyana Badminton Association (GBA) hosted its annual Easter Tournament at the National Gymnasium, featuring top players from across the country. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The tournament kicked off with a doubles event, where athletes competed in men&#8217;s, women&#8217;s, and mixed categories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the women&#8217;s doubles matches, Anna Perreira and Ashley Khalil secured an early victory against Priyanka Shvinauth and Joanne Tan. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, Perreira and Khalil were later defeated by Priyanna Ramdhani and Mishka Beharry. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Neveah Eastman and Malia Haley also emerged victorious against Tyra Gomes and Aaliyah Bacchus, while Alimah Eastman and Asiyah Eastman won their match against Leshaunte Berkley and Gabrielle Felix.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Moving to the men&#8217;s doubles category, Akili Haynes and Tyrese Jeffrey claimed victory after a close match against Shane Birkett and Percival Chester. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other notable wins included Matthew Klautky and Omkar Persaud, William Holder and Jason Khalil, and Nkosi Beaton and Frank Waddell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The mixed doubles matches showcased impressive performances from pairs such as Akili Haynes\/Priyanna Ramdhani, Tyrese Jeffrey\/Ambika Ramraj, and Nkosi Beaton\/Anna Perreira.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vice-President of the GBA, Ayanana Watson, expressed gratitude to sponsor Darrell Carpenay of GUMDAC for supporting the event. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, the GBA welcomed the participation of the newly formed Demerara and Berbice Badminton Club.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The tournament will continue with quarter-finals and semi-finals at the National Gymnasium this evening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Easter Tournament highlights the competitive spirit and talent within Guyana&#8217;s badminton community, providing an opportunity for players to showcase their skills on a national stage.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Travis Seymour The Guyana Badminton Association (GBA) hosted its annual Easter Tournament at the National Gymnasium, featuring top players from across the country.
