The Guyanese team returned home to a hero’s welcome at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport after their exceptional performance at the 51st Carifta Games held in Grenada. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Amidst the vibrant beats of tassa drums, Team Guyana touched down on Tuesday evening at approximately 17:15. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Leading the delegation was Minister of Culture, Youth, and Sport, Charles Ramson Jr., accompanied by officials from the National Sports Commission, proud parents, and relatives. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Minister Ramson took the opportunity to commend the young athletes for their remarkable achievements, acknowledging the challenges they overcame to become award-winning athletes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Minister Ramson highlighted the significance of Guyana’s success in the speed and sprint races, breaking barriers that had hindered the country for many decades. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He emphasized the government’s commitment to investing in sports, stating that their success at the Carifta Games justified these investments. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, Minister Ramson expressed confidence that Guyana would achieve even more medals at the next Carifta Games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Director of Sport, Steven Ninvalle, expressed his pride in the athletes, remarking that they had made him extremely happy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He hinted at a wonderful experience and anticipated an even better performance from the team in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Guyana’s largest delegation at the games secured eight medals, including four golds, positioning the country fourth on the medals table. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The team’s success continued on the final day of the games, with notable achievements such as the boys 4×400 men’s relay team’s victory and individual silver medals claimed by Kaidon Persaud and Athaleyha Hinckson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the highlights of the games was the Guyanese mixed medley team setting a new record with a time of 03:23:51 seconds, showcasing the team’s determination and talent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
