{"id":18294,"date":"2024-04-08T14:04:09","date_gmt":"2024-04-08T14:04:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=18294"},"modified":"2024-04-08T14:04:40","modified_gmt":"2024-04-08T14:04:40","slug":"first-batch-of-community-health-workers-graduate-in-region-10","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/first-batch-of-community-health-workers-graduate-in-region-10\/","title":{"rendered":"First Batch of Community Health Workers Graduate in Region 10"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p>By Shawnette Fiedkou<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thirty-six individuals from Region 10 have successfully completed their training as community health workers (CHWs) and are now poised to serve their respective communities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The graduation ceremony for these new CHWs took place at the Major&#8217;s Reception Hall in Amelia&#8217;s Ward, Linden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These graduates, who underwent six months of rigorous training, will now return to their communities equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to address healthcare needs at the grassroots level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In his address, Minister of Health, Dr. Frank Anthony, congratulated the graduates and affirmed the Ministry&#8217;s commitment to employing them in the nearest health facilities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He emphasized the importance of providing training opportunities within regions, enabling individuals to serve their communities effectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The CHW program not only aims to train individuals within their regions but also leverages telemedicine services to support CHWs in remote areas in diagnosing and treating ailments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Anthony encouraged the new graduates to pursue further training through the Ministry, highlighting the nursing assistant program as the next step in their professional development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the ceremony, Deputy Director of Health Science Education, Chandroutie Persaud, commended the graduates for their exemplary performance, acknowledging their dedication to the program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Regional Chairman Deron Adams lauded the decentralization of training opportunities, emphasizing its importance in empowering communities and enhancing healthcare access.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Region 10 Health Officer, Dr. Gregory Harris, congratulated the new CHWs and urged them to serve their communities with equity and dedication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ceremony also recognized Karen Kurtzious as the best graduating student, highlighting her outstanding achievement in the program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The graduation of these CHWs marks a significant milestone in bolstering healthcare delivery at the community level in Region 10, ensuring that residents have access to quality healthcare services closer to home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Shawnette Fiedkou Thirty-six individuals from Region 10 have successfully completed their training as community health workers (CHWs) and are now poised to serve their respective communities.
