{"id":18055,"date":"2024-04-05T01:42:05","date_gmt":"2024-04-05T01:42:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=18055"},"modified":"2024-04-05T01:42:07","modified_gmt":"2024-04-05T01:42:07","slug":"police-and-canu-destroy-billions-of-dollars-in-narcotics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/police-and-canu-destroy-billions-of-dollars-in-narcotics\/","title":{"rendered":"Police and CANU Destroy Billions of Dollars in Narcotics"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p>By Delicia Janniere<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a significant effort to combat the drug trafficking trade, law enforcement agencies in Guyana conducted a massive destruction exercise today at the former housing ministry\u2019s tarmac on Homestretch Avenue. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The operation involved the Guyana Police Force and the Customs Anti Narcotic Unit (CANU) and aimed to eradicate narcotics seized as part of the government\u2019s aggressive campaign against drug trafficking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Guyana Police Force destroyed a staggering 2,253.60 kilograms of marijuana, with an estimated street value of approximately $2.2 billion. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Minister of Home Affairs Robeson Benn was present at the exercise to oversee the operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Hon.
