{"id":17992,"date":"2024-04-05T00:31:40","date_gmt":"2024-04-05T00:31:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=17992"},"modified":"2024-04-05T00:31:41","modified_gmt":"2024-04-05T00:31:41","slug":"progress-update-construction-of-6-6b-hospital-in-region-five","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/progress-update-construction-of-6-6b-hospital-in-region-five\/","title":{"rendered":"Progress Update: Construction of $6.6B Hospital in Region Five"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p>By Royan Abrams<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Construction work on the Specialty Hospital in Region Five is advancing steadily, with the foundation already complete, according to Regional Chairman Vickchand Ramphal. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This update comes following a site visit earlier today, indicating promising developments for improved healthcare services in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Specialty Hospital, located at Bath Settlement in Region Five, is one of six medical facilities being constructed by Chinese companies Sinopharm International and the China CAMC Engineering Company Limited. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chairman Ramphal expressed confidence in the progress, noting the smooth advancement of construction work on the $6.6 billion project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During his remarks, Ramphal emphasized the government&#8217;s commitment to enhancing healthcare across Guyana. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He highlighted the significance of the new hospital in Region Five, stating that it will significantly improve access to specialized healthcare services for residents. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With construction underway, anticipation is high among locals eagerly awaiting the completion of this vital facility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Currently, Region Five relies on two hospitals, neither of which has the capacity to provide specialized medical care. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a result, patients often need to be transferred to Georgetown, causing distress for both patients and their families. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new hospital will address this gap by offering a range of specialized services closer to home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Health Minister Dr. Frank Anthony previously announced that the Specialty Hospital will feature 75 in-patient beds, three operating theatres (including two for major operations), a neonatal unit for premature babies, digital diagnostic services, and a modern laboratory. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These state-of-the-art facilities aim to ensure that residents receive the highest standard of care without the need for distant travel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As construction progresses, the Specialty Hospital in Region Five promises to be a cornerstone of improved healthcare infrastructure, bringing essential medical services closer to the communities it serves.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Royan Abrams Construction work on the Specialty Hospital in Region Five is advancing steadily, with the foundation already complete, according to Regional Chairman Vickchand Ramphal.
