{"id":17943,"date":"2024-04-04T17:38:25","date_gmt":"2024-04-04T17:38:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=17943"},"modified":"2024-04-04T17:38:27","modified_gmt":"2024-04-04T17:38:27","slug":"kwakwani-mash-celebrations-this-weekend","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/kwakwani-mash-celebrations-this-weekend\/","title":{"rendered":"Kwakwani Mash Celebrations This Weekend"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p>By Shannon Totaram<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mashramani celebrations are set to continue this weekend in the vibrant community of Kwakwani, as residents gear up for their segment of the parade. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chairman of the Region Ten Tourism Committee, Devin Sears, announced that the festivities in Kwakwani will span over two days. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The excitement kicks off with Access J\u2019ouvert, a lively event that promises a season of soca tailored for Kwakwani.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sears elaborated on the schedule, stating, &#8220;Now, this is two days of activities starting on Friday the 22nd, whereby Access is going to be having their season of soca, Kwakwani edition j&#8217;ouvert, and that\u2019s going to be happening at Scatter George Guest House.&#8221; He further added, &#8220;And then on Saturday the 23rd of March, we have that Kwakwani road parade and after fete. The location is as follows: it starts from the waterfront then makes its way all the way to Independence Square. Of course, there\u2019s going to be judging for best costume, individual, group, and company costume.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The road parade, slated to commence at 11 am, will feature participation from various associations and neighboring communities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sears expressed anticipation for the involvement of companies in the festivities, emphasizing the spirit of unity and camaraderie that defines Mashramani celebrations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mashramani, originally rooted in Linden, has evolved into a national celebration, with the largest festivities held in the capital city on February 23rd. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, the spirit of Mashramani continues to thrive across Guyana, with subsequent celebrations held in various regions, including Kwakwani.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As Kwakwani prepares to join in the revelry, residents and visitors alike can look forward to a weekend filled with vibrant cultural displays, lively music, and the infectious energy of Mashramani.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Shannon Totaram Mashramani celebrations are set to continue this weekend in the vibrant community of Kwakwani, as residents gear up for their segment of the parade.
