{"id":17771,"date":"2024-04-03T01:22:10","date_gmt":"2024-04-03T01:22:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=17771"},"modified":"2024-04-03T01:22:11","modified_gmt":"2024-04-03T01:22:11","slug":"essequibo-leg-of-guinness-street-football-tournament-still-in-the-works","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/essequibo-leg-of-guinness-street-football-tournament-still-in-the-works\/","title":{"rendered":"Essequibo Leg of Guinness Street Football Tournament Still in the Works"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p>By Eric Collymore<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Efforts to expand the Guinness Greatest of the Street Football Championship to Essequibo are still in progress, according to Brand Executive Lee Baptiste. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As preparations for the Georgetown leg of the tournament are underway, Baptiste provided an update on plans to extend the event to the Cinderella County. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Talks are ongoing to bring the excitement of street football to Essequibo, indicating a potential expansion of the tournament to new areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After a four-year hiatus, the tournament is making its return, starting with the Georgetown leg scheduled to kick off at the National Park Tarmac this Friday at 19:00 hours. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Organizers aim to elevate the tournament to new heights this year as they work towards the national championship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Several teams are participating in the tournament, including Sparta Boss, Sophia, North Ruimveldt, Leopold Street, Back Circle, Tiger Bay, Gold is Money, Alexander Village, and Bent Street, among others. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The final is scheduled for March 31, promising an exciting culmination to the tournament.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Eric Collymore Efforts to expand the Guinness Greatest of the Street Football Championship to Essequibo are still in progress, according to Brand Executive Lee Baptiste.
