{"id":17697,"date":"2024-04-02T19:40:17","date_gmt":"2024-04-02T19:40:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=17697"},"modified":"2024-04-02T19:40:17","modified_gmt":"2024-04-02T19:40:17","slug":"caricom-and-international-partners-agree-on-transitional-governance-arrangement-for-haiti","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/caricom-and-international-partners-agree-on-transitional-governance-arrangement-for-haiti\/","title":{"rendered":"Caricom and International Partners Agree on Transitional Governance Arrangement for Haiti"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p>By Radha Motielall<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Caricom leaders, in collaboration with international partners, have reached a consensus on a transitional governance plan aimed at restoring peace and stability in Haiti. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During a meeting held in Jamaica between Caricom and its international allies, Caricom Chairman President Irfaan Ali announced the agreement, which follows the resignation of Prime Minister Ariel Henry. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This resignation clears the path for the implementation of an interim governance structure and the subsequent organization of elections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The interim presidential council, endorsed by international partners, will consist of two observers and seven voting members. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These members will include representatives from civil society, political coalitions, the business community, and a religious leader.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-audio\"><audio controls src=\"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/CARICOM-and-Haiti-Insert-.mp3\"><\/audio><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>President Ali emphasized that the council will promptly appoint a Prime Minister and will remain operational until a democratically elected government is established. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, he stated that the council will collaborate with the international community to ensure that Haiti is governed according to the rule of law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The collaborative efforts between Caricom and its partners signify an important step towards providing humanitarian aid and alleviating the suffering of the Haitian people. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>President Ali urged all stakeholders to fully support the agreement and give it an opportunity to succeed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Radha Motielall Caricom leaders, in collaboration with international partners, have reached a consensus on a transitional governance plan aimed at restoring peace and stability in Haiti.
