{"id":16991,"date":"2024-03-05T00:40:43","date_gmt":"2024-03-05T00:40:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=16991"},"modified":"2024-03-05T00:40:49","modified_gmt":"2024-03-05T00:40:49","slug":"blue-water-shipping-invests-in-training-guyanese-youth-in-supply-chain-operations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/blue-water-shipping-invests-in-training-guyanese-youth-in-supply-chain-operations\/","title":{"rendered":"Blue Water Shipping Invests in Training Guyanese Youth in Supply Chain Operations"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p><em>By Samuel Gillis<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a move to bolster the capacity and skills of Guyanese youth in the field of supply chain operations, Blue Water Shipping, represented by Senior Vice President Jennifer Faulkner, has initiated a comprehensive training program both locally and internationally. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Blue Water Shipping, a prominent organization offering logistic solutions and shipping services for companies in Guyana and globally, made its presence felt at the recent Guyana Energy Expo. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jennifer Faulkner, Senior Vice President of the company, emphasized their commitment to nurturing local talent through training opportunities designed to enhance Guyana&#8217;s development prospects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-audio\"><audio controls src=\"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/Gillis-Blue-Water-1.mp3\"><\/audio><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Faulkner outlined the structure of the training program, highlighting its duration and focus areas. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Year one involves employment in Guyana with training in Freight forwarding and supply chain Logistics,&#8221; she explained. &#8220;In year two, participants are seconded to one of our offices globally to be part of the international supply chain logistics.&#8221; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Currently, two trainees are stationed in Singapore and Houston, two key hubs for cargo movement in the company&#8217;s operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The trainees selected in 2022 were strategically placed at Blue Water Shipping&#8217;s Houston and Singapore offices, Faulkner revealed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The aim is for them to glean best practices from an international perspective and bring back valuable insights to further develop Guyana&#8217;s logistics sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-audio\"><audio controls src=\"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/Gillis-Blue-Water-2.mp3\"><\/audio><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Faulkner emphasized the company&#8217;s dedication to capacity building and youth development, recognizing education and sports as interconnected avenues for growth. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We see a need to build capacity in this sector, which is still fairly new to Guyana,&#8221;
