{"id":16749,"date":"2024-02-25T23:05:25","date_gmt":"2024-02-25T23:05:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=16749"},"modified":"2024-02-25T23:05:26","modified_gmt":"2024-02-25T23:05:26","slug":"guests-safely-evacuated-as-fire-engulfs-castle-hotel-in-new-amsterdam","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/guests-safely-evacuated-as-fire-engulfs-castle-hotel-in-new-amsterdam\/","title":{"rendered":"Guests Safely Evacuated as Fire Engulfs Castle Hotel in New Amsterdam"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p><strong><em>By Royan Abrams<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A fully booked Castle Hotel in New Amsterdam experienced a devastating fire incident, fortunately leaving all guests unharmed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Guyana Fire Service, in collaboration with the Guyana Police Force, is actively investigating the cause of a fire that erupted on the third floor of the Castle Hotel in New Amsterdam on Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Divisional Fire Officer, Kirkland Harry, briefed reporters, stating that the fire department received the distress call around 16:30 hours, prompting an immediate dispatch of fire personnel and equipment to the scene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Upon arrival, firefighters were met with thick smoke engulfing the entire third floor, prompting swift action to contain the blaze. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Unfortunately, the fire had also affected the second floor of the building.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Harry explained that fire crews encountered challenges with water supply initially, but these issues were swiftly resolved, allowing firefighters to continue their efforts to extinguish the flames.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thankfully, there were no reports of injuries, and all occupants of the hotel were safely evacuated from the premises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mayor of New Amsterdam, Wainright McIntosh, expressed gratitude to the Guyana Fire Service for their prompt response and effective containment of the fire to the hotel building. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He emphasized that without their rapid intervention, the fire could have potentially spread to neighboring structures, causing further devastation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As investigations into the cause of the fire continue, authorities remain vigilant in ensuring the safety and security of the community.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Royan Abrams A fully booked Castle Hotel in New Amsterdam experienced a devastating fire incident, fortunately leaving all guests unharmed.
