{"id":16504,"date":"2024-02-13T16:53:49","date_gmt":"2024-02-13T16:53:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=16504"},"modified":"2024-02-13T16:53:50","modified_gmt":"2024-02-13T16:53:50","slug":"maternal-mortality-hits-all-time-low-in-moruca-sub-district","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/maternal-mortality-hits-all-time-low-in-moruca-sub-district\/","title":{"rendered":"Maternal Mortality Hits All-Time Low in Moruca Sub-District"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p><strong><em>By Delicia Janniere<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Maternal mortality in the Moruca Sub-District of Region One has reached an unprecedented low, according to Dr. Steven Cheefoon, the Regional Health Officer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking at the commissioning of the Moruca Maternal and Child Health District Office, Dr. Cheefoon attributed this achievement to improved healthcare interventions in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-audio\"><audio controls src=\"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/Delecia-Moruca-District-Office-1.mp3\"><\/audio><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Expectant mothers in the Moruca sub-districts, including Kwebanna and Waramuri, now have access to maternal and child health services at the newly inaugurated Moruca Maternal and Child Health District Office. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This development aims to reduce the need for these mothers to travel to the Suddie Hospital for medical care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Cheefoon expressed optimism about the positive outcomes resulting from the healthcare improvements, noting that Moruca has not recorded any maternal deaths or serious maternal complications in the last two years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-audio\"><audio controls src=\"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/Delecia-Moruca-District-Office-2.mp3\"><\/audio><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>He emphasized the region&#8217;s commitment to setting an example for the rest of the country in eliminating maternal mortalities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Health Minister Dr. Frank Anthony commended the dedication of the health workers in achieving these remarkable maternal mortality records. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He expressed satisfaction with the significant progress made within a relatively short period and emphasized the potential for further positive changes with continued investment in healthcare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The newly commissioned Maternal and Child Health District Office aims to provide essential services to residents within its sub-region, which encompasses 18 health facilities, including two health centers, one regional hospital, and fifteen health posts.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Delicia Janniere Maternal mortality in the Moruca Sub-District of Region One has reached an unprecedented low, according to Dr. Steven Cheefoon, the Regional Health Officer.
