{"id":16439,"date":"2024-02-12T20:15:06","date_gmt":"2024-02-12T20:15:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=16439"},"modified":"2024-02-12T20:15:08","modified_gmt":"2024-02-12T20:15:08","slug":"osh-investigating-death-of-linden-man","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/osh-investigating-death-of-linden-man\/","title":{"rendered":"OSH Investigating Death of Linden Man"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p><em>By Reycia Nedd<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Ministry of Labour has initiated a formal investigation into the tragic accident resulting in the death of sixty-six-year-old Lennox McPherson, an employee of Guyana Shield Resources Inc. in Linden. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Department of the Ministry of Labour received the report of the accident on Sunday, February 4. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Initial reports indicate that Lennox McPherson, a resident of Cinderella City in Amelia\u2019s Ward, lost his life in the accident. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>McPherson, who worked as an excavator operator, was fatally pinned by a Doosan Excavator Bucket against the track of an excavator just outside a sandpit in Dora on the East Bank of Demerara.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NCN had the opportunity to speak with Keon McPherson, the son of the deceased, who shared details about the incident. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Keon McPherson, there was a discussion about the work before the accident occurred, and his father was unable to call for help during the incident. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lennox McPherson was rushed to the Linden Hospital Complex after the incident, where he was pronounced dead by the attending doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The family of the deceased is urging the relevant authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident.
