{"id":16378,"date":"2024-02-10T18:33:21","date_gmt":"2024-02-10T18:33:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=16378"},"modified":"2024-02-10T18:33:22","modified_gmt":"2024-02-10T18:33:22","slug":"lindeners-engage-with-minister-edghill-to-learn-about-budget-2024-benefits","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/lindeners-engage-with-minister-edghill-to-learn-about-budget-2024-benefits\/","title":{"rendered":"Lindeners Engage with Minister Edghill to Learn about Budget 2024 Benefits"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p>Scores of Lindeners gathered at Mast Villa in Amelia\u2019s Ward on Sunday for an outreach event, where Minister of Public Works Juan Edghill elucidated the benefits of Budget 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite the Region being allocated $7.163 billion for Capital and Current works, Minister Edghill assured residents that more development is on the horizon for the Region, emphasizing how the Government plans to manage the $1.146 trillion allocated for all Guyanese.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Minister Edghill highlighted that Budget 2024 delineates the policies, plans, programmes, and projects to be implemented, with a focus on putting more money into people&#8217;s pockets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The removal of VAT on water and electricity, restoration of subsidies for pensioners, automatic qualification for Public Assistance for individuals living with disabilities, and write-off of student loans at the University of Guyana for young professionals who have contributed to Guyana were among the key points discussed by Minister Edghill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reflecting on the promises made, Minister Edghill noted that the government has surpassed its commitment of 50,000 jobs and completed over 3,000 projects. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He also highlighted the Part-Time Workers Programme as a progressive avenue for poverty alleviation and empowering individuals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>PPP\/C Regional Councilor Dexter Harding lauded Budget 2024 as a \u2018People&#8217;s Budget,\u2019 emphasizing equitable distribution of goods and services. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He urged everyone to join efforts for the development of the region and Guyana as a whole.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As Lindeners engaged with Minister Edghill, the outreach event provided valuable insights into the tangible benefits and opportunities outlined in Budget 2024.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Scores of Lindeners gathered at Mast Villa in Amelia\u2019s Ward on Sunday for an outreach event, where Minister of Public Works Juan Edghill elucidated the benefits of Budget 2024.
