{"id":15593,"date":"2024-01-18T17:19:28","date_gmt":"2024-01-18T17:19:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=15593"},"modified":"2024-01-18T17:19:29","modified_gmt":"2024-01-18T17:19:29","slug":"president-ali-inaugurates-30-million-marine-facility-in-region-three","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/president-ali-inaugurates-30-million-marine-facility-in-region-three\/","title":{"rendered":"President Ali Inaugurates $30 Million Marine Facility in Region Three"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p>President Irfaan Ali recently officiated the commissioning of a state-of-the-art $30 million marine facility at Nismes, West Bank Demerara, owned by GAICO Construction &amp; General Services Inc. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The event was marked by the presence of government officials, industry leaders, and local residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The facility, conceptualized in 2013 by GAICO CEO Komal Singh, includes a dry dock, concrete wharf, and a laydown and storage yard capable of handling heavy loads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Singh expressed gratitude to President Ali for championing the construction of such a facility in Region Three. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He noted that the project, initially slated for completion in 2019, faced delays as the Coalition Government did not grant approval. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, under the PPP\/C Government, the project received the green light in December 2020, and construction commenced in February 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The marine facility will play a pivotal role in supporting the Government&#8217;s Gas-to-Energy Project at Wales, West Bank Demerara. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is designed to serve as an offloading site for materials and equipment transported by international vessels for the construction of the project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>President Ali underscored the value that the new facility brings to Region Three, emphasizing the significant contributions of GAICO in linking economic development with regional progress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Minister within the Public Works Ministry, Deodat Indar, who was present at the commissioning, highlighted the government&#8217;s commitment to development across all sectors. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He stressed the urgency of pushing forward with development initiatives and acknowledged the positive impact the marine facility will have on regional growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The commissioning of this marine facility signifies a strategic investment in Guyana&#8217;s infrastructure, supporting economic development and enhancing the country&#8217;s capabilities in handling international projects.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>President Irfaan Ali recently officiated the commissioning of a state-of-the-art $30 million marine facility at Nismes, West Bank Demerara, owned by GAICO Construction &amp; General Services Inc.
