{"id":15113,"date":"2024-01-04T17:49:54","date_gmt":"2024-01-04T17:49:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=15113"},"modified":"2024-01-04T17:49:55","modified_gmt":"2024-01-04T17:49:55","slug":"government-nears-construction-phase-for-major-road-projects-edghill-provides-updates","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/government-nears-construction-phase-for-major-road-projects-edghill-provides-updates\/","title":{"rendered":"Government Nears Construction Phase for Major Road Projects: Edghill Provides Updates"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p>The Public Works Ministry, under the leadership of Oversight Minister Juan Edghill, has achieved significant progress in the preliminary works for major road projects across Guyana. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Edghill provided updates on key initiatives, including the Good Success to Timehri Road, Linden-Soesdyke Highway, and Belfield to Rosignol projects during the year 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Minister Edghill reported that the preliminary works for these projects are nearing completion, with tangible developments expected in the upcoming construction phase. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A contract has been awarded for the section from Good Success to Timehri, funded by the IDB, and major paving work is anticipated in the early months of the new year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Furthermore, active work is set to commence on the Linden-Soesdyke Highway, featuring the construction of a roundabout at the Soesdyke-East Bank junction and another at Milly\u2019s Hideout turning into Linden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Linden-Soesdyke Highway has received approval for the loan, and the design consultancy contract for the Belfield to Rosignol project has been signed, setting the stage for construction to begin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As these projects progress, Minister Edghill emphasized a more assertive approach in dealing with contractors facing severe delays. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Cemetery Road project, valued at 1.4 billion Guyana dollars, has experienced delays, prompting a revised deadline of January 2024 for completion.
