{"id":14583,"date":"2023-12-12T20:18:58","date_gmt":"2023-12-12T20:18:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=14583"},"modified":"2023-12-12T20:18:59","modified_gmt":"2023-12-12T20:18:59","slug":"impressive-performances-in-national-schools-championship","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/impressive-performances-in-national-schools-championship\/","title":{"rendered":"Impressive Performances in National Schools Championship"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p>The National Schools Championship at the National Track and Field facility showcased some outstanding performances, particularly in the boys&#8217; under-8, 800 meters event. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kester DeSouza and Jaden Bristol, representing District 3 and District 4, delivered exceptional performances in their respective heats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite high-profile athletes Tianna Springer and Javon Roberts dominating the 400 meters, it was DeSouza and Bristol who stole the show. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 400 meters finals are scheduled for Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the field events, Romarion Wolfe of District 4 (East Coast Demerara) unofficially raised the Boys&#8217; Under-14 High Jump record to 1.66m, surpassing the previous record held by Isai Thorne of District 15 (New Amsterdam\/Canje) at 1.63m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the Boys Under-12 Discus, Michael Mohamed of District 3 (West Demerara) potentially set a new record with an impressive throw of 24.04m, surpassing the previous record of 22.23m set by Jamie Fraser of District 5 (West Coast Berbice).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Akeela Webster of District 3 showcased her prowess by securing gold in the Girls&#8217; Discus with a throw of 21.14m, potentially breaking the Under-14 record previously held by Anna Headley at 20.47m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Azizi Christiani from District 2 (Essequibo Coast\/Pomeroon) made a notable mark by winning the male teachers\u2019 discus under-21 in his inaugural \u2018Nationals\u2019 with a throw of 29.22m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The National Schools\u2019 Cycling, Swimming, and Track and Field Championships 2023 continue to provide a platform for young athletes to showcase their talent and break records.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The National Schools Championship at the National Track and Field facility showcased some outstanding performances, particularly in the boys&#8217; under-8, 800 meters event.
