{"id":14452,"date":"2023-11-29T19:08:36","date_gmt":"2023-11-29T19:08:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=14452"},"modified":"2023-11-29T19:08:37","modified_gmt":"2023-11-29T19:08:37","slug":"over-200-students-graduate-from-caribbean-vocational-qualification-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/over-200-students-graduate-from-caribbean-vocational-qualification-program\/","title":{"rendered":"Over 200 Students Graduate from Caribbean Vocational Qualification Program"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p>In a significant milestone, over 200 students have graduated from the Caribbean Vocational Qualification (CVQ) and Secondary Competence Certificate Programme (SCCP). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This marks the first batch of students to complete the CVQ programme in Guyana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The graduation ceremony celebrated the achievements of students who completed courses in various areas, including agriculture science, furniture making, electrical installation, and catering. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Recognizing the evolving landscape of industries in Guyana, there is an increased emphasis on skills development through Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-audio\"><audio controls src=\"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/Saskia-Graduation-1.mp3\"><\/audio><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Assistant Chief Education Officer, Marcia Paddy-Andrews, emphasized the importance of TVET for the full economic growth of Guyana. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She highlighted that responding to the growing demands of industries requires a skilled workforce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Deputy Chief Education Officer Technical, Ritesh Tularam, outlined the Ministry&#8217;s agenda to ensure that, by 2025, every student leaving the school system possesses dual qualifications. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This dual qualification involves completing the regular Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) curriculum along with a TVET program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Technical Vocational Education and Training is currently offered to Grades 9 and 10 students in several schools across the country. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The goal is to implement TVET in every school by 2025, aligning with the broader vision for skills development and education in Guyana.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In a significant milestone, over 200 students have graduated from the Caribbean Vocational Qualification (CVQ) and Secondary Competence Certificate Programme (SCCP).
