{"id":13790,"date":"2023-11-09T16:02:34","date_gmt":"2023-11-09T16:02:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=13790"},"modified":"2023-11-09T16:02:35","modified_gmt":"2023-11-09T16:02:35","slug":"berbice-pensioner-succumbs-to-injuries-after-minibus-collision","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/berbice-pensioner-succumbs-to-injuries-after-minibus-collision\/","title":{"rendered":"Berbice Pensioner Succumbs to Injuries after Minibus Collision"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p>Seventy-Three-year-old Walter Jaundoo of Epson Village, Corentyne, tragically passed away at the New Amsterdam Regional Hospital on Thursday, nearly a week after being struck by a speeding minibus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to his wife, Jeanette Jaundoo, Walter was returning home on his bicycle after a day of labor in the fields when the accident occurred. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He reported seeing a minibus rapidly approaching from behind, but continued on his journey and was ultimately hit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The minibus driver, reportedly an off-duty police officer, promptly transported Walter to Port Mourant Hospital, from where he was later transferred to New Amsterdam. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite receiving medical attention, Walter&#8217;s injuries proved fatal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jeanette Jaundoo, grieving and anguished, recounted the extent of her husband&#8217;s injuries. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Walter suffered two fractures in his foot, severe blows to his back and abdomen, and significant internal bleeding. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She expressed her deep sorrow and called for justice for her late husband.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although the incident was reported to the police, they only visited the family after Walter&#8217;s passing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jeanette Jaundoo fervently hopes that a thorough investigation will lead to accountability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Investigations into the incident are currently underway.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Seventy-Three-year-old Walter Jaundoo of Epson Village, Corentyne, tragically passed away at the New Amsterdam Regional Hospital on Thursday, nearly a week after being struck by a speeding minibus.
