{"id":13675,"date":"2023-11-06T19:38:43","date_gmt":"2023-11-06T19:38:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=13675"},"modified":"2023-11-06T19:38:53","modified_gmt":"2023-11-06T19:38:53","slug":"former-police-officer-charged-with-gruesome-murder-in-la-penitence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/former-police-officer-charged-with-gruesome-murder-in-la-penitence\/","title":{"rendered":"Former Police Officer Charged with Gruesome Murder in La Penitence"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p>A former police officer, Yogeendra Sukhdeo, has been charged with the murder of his friend, Amit Singh, in a disturbing incident that took place on Middle Road, La Penitence. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sukhdeo has been remanded in custody pending further legal proceedings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to reports, on October 24, Sukhdeo allegedly lured Amit Singh to a property on Middle Road, La Penitence, under the guise of conducting business. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was during this meeting that Sukhdeo brutally attacked Singh, leading to his tragic death. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After the assault, Sukhdeo reportedly took a substantial sum of cash, totaling $7,790,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Acting on a tip, the police apprehended Sukhdeo and discovered the stolen cash at his residence in Diamond, East Bank Demerara.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Special Prosecutor Latchmie Rahamat provided a detailed account of the events leading up to the murder. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Singh was last seen in the company of Sukhdeo around 13:30 hours on the fateful day. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Concerned family members reported Singh missing after their attempts to contact him went unanswered. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following an investigation, the police arrested Sukhdeo, ultimately leading them to the victim&#8217;s lifeless body at the Penitence residence. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Singh had been brutally beaten with a piece of wood and wrapped in a sheet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vinod Singh, the grieving father of the deceased, believes his son&#8217;s compassionate nature may have played a role in the tragic outcome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yogeendra Sukhdeo was represented by former Magistrate and Attorney at Law, Gordon Gilhuys.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>[Reported by Nakasia Logan, NCN Guyana]<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A former police officer, Yogeendra Sukhdeo, has been charged with the murder of his friend, Amit Singh, in a disturbing incident that took place on Middle Road, La Penitence.
