{"id":13358,"date":"2023-10-20T15:19:38","date_gmt":"2023-10-20T15:19:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=13358"},"modified":"2023-10-20T15:19:39","modified_gmt":"2023-10-20T15:19:39","slug":"fire-engulfs-vendors-stall-in-bourda-street-georgetown","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/fire-engulfs-vendors-stall-in-bourda-street-georgetown\/","title":{"rendered":"Fire Engulfs Vendor&#8217;s Stall in Bourda Street, Georgetown"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p>Early this morning, a fierce blaze consumed a vendor&#8217;s stall on Bourda Street, Georgetown, leaving substantial damage in its wake. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The incident unfolded at Stall 13B, owned by Norland Browne, at approximately 7:40 AM. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Two neighboring stalls also suffered minor damages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Eyewitness Juneann Johnson, who was present at her own stall in the market, recounted the moment she got wind of the fire and promptly rushed over. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She described the initial sight as a plume of smoke, which rapidly escalated into an uncontrollable blaze.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another onlooker, who happened to be nearby, witnessed the fire unfold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vendors in the vicinity voiced concerns about vagrants who have taken up residence behind the stalls. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They urged authorities to address the issue, asserting that the presence of these individuals poses a hazard to the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Guyana Fire Service received commendation for their swift response, effectively containing the fire and preventing its spread. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Town Clerk Candace Nelson and City Engineer Colvern Venture were on-site to assess the situation.
