{"id":13290,"date":"2023-10-17T21:31:12","date_gmt":"2023-10-17T21:31:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=13290"},"modified":"2023-10-17T21:31:13","modified_gmt":"2023-10-17T21:31:13","slug":"2023-junior-national-badminton-tournament-kicks-off","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/2023-junior-national-badminton-tournament-kicks-off\/","title":{"rendered":"2023 Junior National Badminton Tournament Kicks Off"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p>In collaboration with the National Sport Commission, the Guyana Badminton Association has officially launched the 2023 Junior National Badminton Tournament at the National Gymnasium. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The three-day event, concluding on Saturday, features young players in the under-19, under-15, and under-11 categories competing in singles, doubles, and mixed doubles matches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Director of Sport, Steve Ninvalle, expressed the importance of such competitions for the growth of the sport. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He commended the young participants for showcasing their skills and emphasized that badminton has been designated a priority core sport due to its high level of organization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ninvalle encouraged the organizers to continue their efforts in expanding the reach of badminton.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the under-19 boys&#8217; singles matches, notable victories were secured by Jedidiah Uwagboe, Jonathan Robinson, Raah Russell, Adeeb Zaman, and Haresh Persaud. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the girls&#8217; under-19 singles, Leshaunte Berkley triumphed over Tyra Gomes, and Genvieve Bookram prevailed against Charisma Etwardoo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The under-15 boys&#8217; singles featured Lamar Lewis defeating Adriel Persaud, while Sergio Alexander overcame the challenge of Mohamed Farouk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> Avinash Ramnarine and Egan Bulkan also secured victories. On the girls&#8217; side, Malia Haley triumphed over Aaliyah Bacchus, and Gabrielle Felix bested Gianna Ramnarine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Haley and Felix returned to secure additional wins. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the under-11 category, Joel Rambiriche and Ethan Bulkan emerged as winners in the boys&#8217; singles, while Riyo Alexander clinched victory in the girls&#8217; category.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The tournament culminates with the finals on Saturday, commencing at 10 a.m.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In collaboration with the National Sport Commission, the Guyana Badminton Association has officially launched the 2023 Junior National Badminton Tournament at the National Gymnasium.
