{"id":13245,"date":"2023-10-17T20:55:01","date_gmt":"2023-10-17T20:55:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=13245"},"modified":"2023-10-17T20:55:03","modified_gmt":"2023-10-17T20:55:03","slug":"raising-cancer-awareness-women-on-the-move-initiates-october-activities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/raising-cancer-awareness-women-on-the-move-initiates-october-activities\/","title":{"rendered":"Raising Cancer Awareness: &#8216;Women on the Move&#8217; Initiates October Activities"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p>The &#8216;Women on the Move&#8217; (WOTM) women&#8217;s group has embarked on a series of activities throughout the month of October, dedicated to raising awareness about breast cancer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Operating under the theme &#8216;Living beyond breast cancer&#8217;, the group seeks to shed light on various types of cancer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The calendar of events commenced with an Awareness Day at the Vivien Parris Health Centre, followed by a church service for cancer survivors and health outreaches. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Camille Cummings, Chairman of WOTM, emphasized that while the group primarily advocates for breast cancer awareness, the planned activities will encompass various cancer types.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The presentations will cover a diverse range of cancer types, with a detailed discussion by a medical professional during the vigil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The diverse lineup of activities includes a motorcade where participants can decorate their vehicles in shades of pink, a candlelight vigil, hamper distribution, and a fundraising event. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Proceeds from the fundraiser will be directed towards cancer survivors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The pinnacle event, the cancer walk, is scheduled for October 29. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It will kick off at 6:00 AM from the Wismar shore, in front of the LUSCSL building on Burnham Drive. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cummings invited everyone in Linden to participate, emphasizing that the event is inclusive and not competitive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The activities will culminate in a social gathering for cancer survivors. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>WOTM urges widespread participation throughout the month to bolster endeavors aimed at increasing cancer awareness.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The &#8216;Women on the Move&#8217; (WOTM) women&#8217;s group has embarked on a series of activities throughout the month of October, dedicated to raising awareness about breast cancer.
