{"id":13148,"date":"2023-10-09T15:25:20","date_gmt":"2023-10-09T15:25:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=13148"},"modified":"2023-10-09T15:25:22","modified_gmt":"2023-10-09T15:25:22","slug":"empowering-parents-and-carers-of-children-with-disabilities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/empowering-parents-and-carers-of-children-with-disabilities\/","title":{"rendered":"Empowering Parents and Carers of Children with Disabilities"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p>he Linden Hospital Complex (LHC) and the Region Ten Education Department joined hands to organize a sensitization health fair, tailored for parents and caregivers of children living with disabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Held at the Linden Municipal Park, the health fair witnessed close to fifty attendees benefitting from the initiative. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Luanna Boyce, Special Education Needs Officer attached to the Region 10 Education Department, outlined the purpose of the event. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Boyce affirmed that such initiatives will become a regular occurrence, underscoring the importance of availing oneself of the services provided by various healthcare facilities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She emphasized the significance of early intervention and urged parents and caregivers to seek assistance if they suspect a child may have a disability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The government has been taking significant steps to ensure individuals with special needs have equal access to essential services. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Recently, Project Inclusion, in collaboration with the U.S. Embassy and the Ministry of Education, conducted an Inclusive Education and Learning Disabilities training session for teachers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This initiative equips educators with knowledge on special education needs, enabling them to better teach and interact with children facing learning disabilities, thereby fostering inclusivity within classrooms.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>he Linden Hospital Complex (LHC) and the Region Ten Education Department joined hands to organize a sensitization health fair, tailored for parents and caregivers of children living with disabilities.
