{"id":12966,"date":"2023-10-02T18:06:01","date_gmt":"2023-10-02T18:06:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=12966"},"modified":"2023-10-02T18:06:02","modified_gmt":"2023-10-02T18:06:02","slug":"caribbean-development-championships-kick-off-in-tobago","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/caribbean-development-championships-kick-off-in-tobago\/","title":{"rendered":"Caribbean Development Championships Kick Off in Tobago"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p>The 2023 edition of the Caribbean Development Championship Games was inaugurated on Friday at the Dwight Yorke Stadium in Tobago, Trinidad and Tobago. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>President of the Trinidad and Tobago Archery Federation, Hasmath Ali, extended a warm welcome to athletes from the region, marking the fifth installment of the championship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year&#8217;s event has drawn substantial participation, with 170 archers competing across beginner, developmental, and amateur categories. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ali highlighted that the championship, conceived a decade ago, was specifically tailored for the English-speaking Caribbean, focusing on the holistic development of athletes in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Over the years, the championship has expanded to include teams from the USA, Latin America, and the wider Caribbean.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Archery Guyana has fielded a formidable team, led by national coaches Nicholas Hing and Robert Singh. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The squad, consisting of 17 athletes including Umasankar Madray, Jeewanram Persaud, Samira Duncan, Roshini Boodhoo, Julie Ann Williams, Saeed Karim, and Bibi Salim, is poised for a strong showing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vidushi Persaud-McKinnon, representing Archery Guyana&#8217;s Board of Directors, extended well-wishes to all participants and encouraged them to strive for victory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Archery Guyana is proud to have Oasis Water as their sponsor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Travis Seymour for NCN Sports<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The 2023 edition of the Caribbean Development Championship Games was inaugurated on Friday at the Dwight Yorke Stadium in Tobago, Trinidad and Tobago.
