{"id":11890,"date":"2023-07-20T19:11:46","date_gmt":"2023-07-20T19:11:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=11890"},"modified":"2023-07-20T19:11:47","modified_gmt":"2023-07-20T19:11:47","slug":"registering-your-e-bike-gra-initiates-registration-process","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/registering-your-e-bike-gra-initiates-registration-process\/","title":{"rendered":"Registering Your E-Bike: GRA Initiates Registration Process"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p>The Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) has commenced the registration process for electric motorcycles, commonly known as E-bikes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As of July 4, E-bike owners are required to register their vehicles within a three-month registration period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following an amendment to the Motor Vehicle and Traffic Act in May of this year, E-bikes are now treated similarly to other types of vehicles on the roadways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To complete the registration, owners must submit a motor vehicle registration application form, a copy of their national identification, and a copy of the purchase affidavit or lost purchase receipt to GRA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After submitting the required documents, E-bike owners will receive a lodgment receipt from GRA, which includes a unique identification number. This identification number must be engraved on the E-bike before proceeding to the Guyana Police Force for a certificate of fitness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Superintendent Dennis Stephen, Traffic Chief, emphasized that all E-bikes will undergo examination before the certificate of fitness is issued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The registration fee for an E-bike is $750, and owners must also pay the fee for a motor vehicle revenue license, which amounts to $2500. Both licenses must be renewed annually.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Starting in September, E-bike owners are mandated to carry their driver&#8217;s license, insurance document, revenue license, and certificate of fitness while traveling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, wearing helmets while riding E-bikes is required, as stated by the Motor Vehicle and Traffic Act.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By following these registration procedures and adhering to safety regulations, E-bike owners can ensure a smooth and compliant experience on Guyana&#8217;s roadways.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) has commenced the registration process for electric motorcycles, commonly known as E-bikes.
