{"id":11661,"date":"2023-06-30T01:44:06","date_gmt":"2023-06-30T01:44:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=11661"},"modified":"2023-06-30T01:44:08","modified_gmt":"2023-06-30T01:44:08","slug":"medical-data-protection-bill-to-be-tabled-soon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/medical-data-protection-bill-to-be-tabled-soon\/","title":{"rendered":"Medical Data Protection Bill To Be Tabled Soon"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p class=\"has-neeon-secondary-color has-text-color\"><strong>\u2026MOH working on new Public Health Act<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Medical Data Protection Bill is among several pieces of legislation that will be laid in the National Assembly soon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is according to Health Minister, Dr. Frank Anthony, who said that the bill forms part of the Government\u2019s efforts to upgrade Guyana\u2019s legal medical landscape.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"480\" height=\"600\" src=\"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/Dr.-Frank-Anthony.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11662\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/Dr.-Frank-Anthony.jpg 480w, https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/Dr.-Frank-Anthony-240x300.jpg 240w, https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/Dr.-Frank-Anthony-126x157.jpg 126w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Minister of Health, Dr. Frank Anthony<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>He explained that the Medical Data Protection Bill will support the Ministry\u2019s efforts to move towards electronic health records, and also allow for the protection of patients\u2019 confidentiality, and introduce hefty fines against health workers who breach it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Anthony confirmed that the Bill has been completed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Moreover, it was also disclosed that the Health Ministry is also working with a team from the Pan-American Health Organization (PAHO) to finalize a new Public Health legislation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Minister says the current Public Health laws are very outdated and the new legislation will cover all aspects of public health and wellness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ministry will also \u2013 in the new month \u2013 launch new guidelines for the treatment of diabetes.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u2026MOH working on new Public Health Act The Medical Data Protection Bill is among several pieces of legislation that will be laid in the National Assembly soon.
