The winning photographs from the 58th Independence Snap and Share competition will soon be showcased at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport.

This announcement was made by Tourism Minister Oneidge Walrond during the prize-giving ceremony held at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre.

The 4th edition of the Independence Snap and Share Photography competition, which focuses on tourism, attracted hundreds of participants who submitted stunning photographs of Guyana’s flora, fauna, and people.

Minister Walrond praised the exceptional quality of the entries and revealed plans to use the photographs to further promote the “Destination Guyana” campaign.

Minister Walrond highlighted that the top 5 photos will be displayed at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre, and the top 58 photos will be published in the Snap and Share magazine.

Additionally, the Guyana Tourism Authority (GTA) is collaborating with the Cheddi Jagan International Airport to increase visibility for images that highlight Destination Guyana, with some of the competition’s photos expected to be featured at the major port of entry.

The Ministry of Tourism is also considering a proposal to create jigsaw puzzles using these images, further expanding the reach and impact of the competition.

Minister Walrond emphasized the government’s commitment to enhancing the initiative as it continues in the coming years.

“As we continue to host this competition, the team at the ministry will constantly find ways to add value and enhance what has now become a staple event,” Minister Walrond stated.

The top five winners of the competition have been offered photography training, and the first-place winner received a Canon DSLR camera.

The ‘Snap and Share’ competition was launched by the Tourism Ministry in 2021 as a flagship initiative to showcase the pristine beauty of Guyana through photography.
