West Indies Women Sweep Ireland 3-0 in T20 Series

The West Indies women’s cricket team achieved a clean sweep against Ireland, winning the third and final International T20 match by eight wickets. In pursuit of a target of 117 runs, the Windies women successfully reached 120 for two, with Hayley Matthews and Aaliyah Alleyne leading the charge with scores of 48 and 49 respectively.

The Windies team encountered an early setback with the loss of Djenba Joseph’s wicket in the second over when they had just seven runs on the board. However, Matthews and Alleyne formed a strong partnership of 80 runs before the captain was dismissed in the 12th over.

Matthews and Alleyne’s partnership proved to be pivotal, as the Irish struggled to make further breakthroughs in the Windies lineup.

In the earlier innings, Ireland was limited to 116 for nine. Matthews stood out as the top-performing bowler, claiming four wickets for just 14 runs from her four overs. Guyanese player Cherry-Ann Fraser also contributed with figures of 2 for 19 from three overs.

Matthews commended the team’s collective effort and acknowledged the hard work put in by the squad to ensure their best performance throughout the series.
