Shemaine Campbell, a prominent player from Guyana and the West Indies women’s team, expressed optimism despite the recent T20 series results against Australia not going their way.

She emphasized that the team’s performance has boosted their confidence for the upcoming three-match one-day international series.

Campbell, who also serves as the vice-captain and wicketkeeper of the squad, highlighted the significance of execution in a 50-over clash, where they have more time to strategize and play.

She emphasized her goal to keep her approach simple and contribute significantly with the bat.

The West Indies women, following a spirited warm-up match with a T20 victory, experienced ups and downs in the series against Australia.

Despite a loss in the opening game, they rallied to level the series after a remarkable performance by skipper Hayley Matthews.

The series ended 2-1 in Australia’s favor, with Matthews earning the Player of the Series award for her outstanding contributions.

The upcoming three 50-over matches promise to be a significant challenge, with the first scheduled in Brisbane on Sunday, followed by matches in Melbourne on Wednesday and Saturday.
