West Indies Suffer 10-Wicket Defeat Against Australia in First Test

In the first test match against Australia in Adelaide, the West Indies faced a ten-wicket defeat as their batsmen struggled, managing a combined 308 runs in two innings.

Batting for the second time, the West Indies were dismissed for 120, setting Australia a target of 26 runs for victory, which they achieved in 6.4 overs on the third day.

Josh Hazlewood played a crucial role for Australia, taking five wickets to restrict the West Indies, who had resumed at 73 for 6.

Nathan Lyon and Mitchell Starc supported Hazlewood with two wickets each.

Kirk Mackenzie (26) and Justin Greaves (25) were the only notable contributors for the West Indies.

Aussie openers Steve Smith (11) and Marcus Labuschagne (1) safely guided Australia to victory.

However, opener Usman Khawaja retired hurt after a bouncer hit him on the chin by Shamar Joseph, who made history as the second West Indian bowler to take a wicket with his first ball and the tenth West Indian to take a five-wicket haul on debut.

The West Indies were dismissed for 188 in their first innings, while Australia responded with 283, with Travis Head scoring 119 and earning the Man of the Match title.

The second test is scheduled for Brisbane, starting on January 25.
