West Indies Show Strong Resolve on Day Two of Second Test Against Australia

On the second day of the second test match at the Gabba in Brisbane, the West Indies exhibited strong resilience, leaving the match delicately balanced at stumps with a lead of 35 runs.

The West Indies, resuming their innings at 266 for 8, were guided by debutant Kevin Sinclair, who made an impressive 50 from 85 balls, including 5 fours and a six. Sinclair’s contribution helped the team reach a total of 311 all out.

Notable performances came from Joshua DaSilva with 79 and Kavem Hodge with 71, rescuing the team from a challenging position at 64 for 5.

Mitchell Starc took four wickets, while Nathan Lyons and Josh Hazelwood claimed two wickets each during the West Indies’ first innings.

Australia, in their batting innings, faced a tough challenge as their top order crumbled to 54 for 5.

Key players like Steve Smith, Marcus Labuschagne, Cameron Green, and Travis Head failed to reach double figures. Usman Khawaja and Alex Carey led the recovery, scoring 75 and 65, respectively.

Skipper Pat Cummins (64 not out) and Nathan Lyons (19) helped Australia reach 289 for 9 before declaring, trailing by 22 runs.

Alzarri Joseph took four wickets, supported by three from Kemar Roach, and one each from Shamar Joseph and Kevin Sinclair.

In their second innings, the West Indies faced a challenging 7.3 overs before the close of play, losing Tagenarine Chanderpaul and finishing the day at 13 for 1 with a lead of 35 runs.

Australia currently leads the two-match series after securing a convincing win in the first match in Adelaide.
