West Indies Show Resilience in Tour Match Against Australia XI

In a prelude to their upcoming series against Australia, the West Indies cricket team faced Cricket Australia XI in a three-day tour match in Adelaide.

On the first day, the West Indies won the toss and opted to bat.

Despite facing some challenges, the Caribbean side posted a total of 251 for 8 in the 90 overs bowled.

Notable contributions came from Kraigg Brathwaite, Justin Greaves, and Kavem Hodge, each scoring half-centuries.

Brathwaite played a solid innings at the top, scoring 52 from 129 balls. Hodge contributed 52 from 101 balls, including 5 fours and a six, while Greaves scored 65 from 135 balls with 10 fours.

However, the West Indies experienced a mini-collapse with Joshua DaSilva and Alzarri Joseph falling quickly.

At the close of play on day one, Kevin Sinclair was at the crease with 12 runs, accompanied by Gudakesh Motie with 8.

Liam Haskett led the Australian bowling attack with figures of 3 for 57, supported by Jack Nisbet and Doug Warren, who claimed two wickets each.

The West Indies faced a weakened squad in this tour match, featuring uncapped players such as Zachary McCaskie, Tevin Imlach, Justin Greaves, Kavem Hodge, Kevin Sinclair, Akeem Jordan, and Shamar Joseph.

Notably, former captain Jason Holder opted out of the tour, and all-rounder Kyle Mayers is participating in the IPL-backed SA20 for Durban, while Shai Hope was not selected.

The West Indies and Australia are scheduled to play two test matches starting next Tuesday, followed by three T20 matches and three ODIs in Australia.
