Following the team’s arrival at the Marriott Hotel, Sammy discussed their preparation and outlook for the tournament.

Accompanied by four of the five Guyanese players in the squad—Gudakesh Motie, Shemar Joseph, Romario Shepherd, and Sherfane Rutherford—Sammy highlighted the excitement of starting their campaign in front of a home crowd.

He praised the team’s composition, expressing belief in their ability to secure a third title on home soil.

Sherfane Rutherford emphasized the importance of playing well in front of local fans, marking his first outing in the World Cup at home as a significant milestone.
