The West Indies men’s cricket team is gearing up to take on their English rivals in a highly anticipated three-match series starting on July 10 at Lord’s.
As part of their preparation, the Windies recently contested a drawn warm-up match against England’s First-Class Counties Select XI at Kent County Cricket Ground.
Assistant coach Jimmy Adams expressed satisfaction with the team’s commitment during the warm-up, highlighting the valuable playing time the squad received ahead of the series opener.
Despite featuring several new faces, Adams noted the players’ dedication to improving their performance.
Reflecting on their recent success against Australia, where the West Indies ended a 27-year drought with a memorable second-test victory, Adams emphasized the importance of carrying forward the lessons learned into their upcoming encounters against England.
In the warm-up match, the West Indies declared their second innings at 196 for 5, with Alick Athanaze unbeaten on 66 and Joshua Da Silva not out at 51.
The County XI, chasing 163 runs for victory on a rain-affected final day, managed 30 for 2 before play concluded.
With both teams now primed for the Test series, cricket enthusiasts eagerly await the clash between the West Indies and England, set to unfold over the coming weeks.
