In an impressive display of cricket, the West Indies secured their third consecutive T20 International series win against South Africa on Sunday night at the Brain Lara Cricket Academy.
The decisive performance came from Shamar Joseph and Romario Shepherd, who played pivotal roles in the series-clinching match.
With a 2-0 lead in the three-match series, the West Indies team set a challenging target of 180 runs for the visitors.
Shai Hope contributed 41 runs, Rovman Powell added 35, and Sherfane Rutherford scored 29, helping the West Indies post a total of 179 for 6 in their 20 overs.
Additional contributions came from Alick Athanaze with 28 runs and Nicholas Pooran with 19 runs.
South Africa, chasing a daunting total, was making progress until key wickets shifted the momentum.
Reeza Hendricks (44), Tristan Stubbs (28), and Ryan Rickelton (20) led the South African charge.
However, the game turned when the Windies dismissed Donovan Ferreira in the 15th over and Rassie van der Dussen in the 16th over.
The West Indies’ victory was spearheaded by the bowling prowess of Shamar Joseph and Romario Shepherd. Shepherd, who took 3 wickets for 15 runs in 4 overs, was named Player of the Match.
Joseph also delivered a standout performance, achieving his best T20 figures of 3 for 31. The West Indies clinched the match with a commanding 30-run victory.
South Africa will have a chance to salvage pride in the final match of the series on August 27 at the same venue, but the West Indies have already secured the series win.
