Ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup in June, Head Coach Darren Sammy emphasizes the significance of the West Indies A team’s tour of Nepal as part of their preparation.
The historic series, slated from April 27 to May 4 in Kirtipur, marks the first time a West Indies team has toured Nepal.
Comprising five T20 matches, this tour presents a valuable opportunity for the team to fine-tune their skills just before the world cup kicks off.
Although West Indies has previously encountered Nepal only once in international cricket, during the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers in 2023,
Sammy underscores the importance of this tour in shaping the team’s readiness for the upcoming tournament.
In addition to focusing on the Nepal tour, Sammy reveals that they are closely monitoring players participating in the IPL.
While some players are engaged in IPL matches, the coaching staff and the West Indies board remain resolute in their commitment to ensuring the team’s success in the World Cup.
Sammy highlights the clarity within the coaching staff and the board regarding the team’s performance objectives, emphasizing the importance of not losing focus during the crucial T20 series.
As the West Indies A team gears up for their tour of Nepal, the coaching staff, players, and stakeholders are unified in their efforts to maximize preparation and readiness for the ICC T20 World Cup.
