Water Tanks Provided to Ingratitute Residents by GWI

By Saskia Warrick

In a bid to address water scarcity concerns in the community of Ingratitute, West Bank Demerara, Guyana Water Inc. (GWI) has distributed 450-gallon water tanks to twelve families.

Following discussions with Housing and Water Minister Collin Croal regarding the water shortage in the area, a commitment was made to provide water to fifty-two families in the community.

However, during the water delivery process, it was discovered that twelve families lacked adequate water storage facilities.

In response to this, GWI promptly arranged for the delivery of water tanks to these households, enabling them to receive and store water from GWI’s distribution system.

Residents expressed their appreciation for the Minister’s swift intervention, acknowledging that the provision of water tanks would significantly improve their quality of life.

Looking ahead, Minister Croal stated that the Ministry would explore the possibility of drilling a well in the area to ensure a sustainable water supply for the community in the long term.

Prior to this initiative, residents relied on various sources such as rainwater, nearby rivers, canals, or purchased water to meet their water needs.

The provision of water tanks by GWI represents a crucial step towards addressing water accessibility challenges in the community of Ingratitute.
