Waramuri Primary shocked the defending champions, Marian Academy, to claim the MVP Sports Girls Under-11 Football title in a thrilling final at the Ministry of Education ground.

The match, which saw both teams fiercely contesting throughout the 50-minute regulation and extra time, ended in a goalless draw, requiring penalty kicks to determine the winner.

Waramuri Primary showed greater composure during the shootout, winning 3-0 to dethrone Marian Academy, who had been led by standout players Ella Fernandes and Haley Haberkorn.

Despite Marian Academy’s strong performance, Waramuri’s determination and skill earned them the victory in their first-ever final appearance.

In the third-place playoff, St John The Baptist Primary defeated Potaro Primary 2-0, with an own goal and a strike from Jaziah Rodrigues securing their win.

The 7-week tournament, featuring 16 teams in a round-robin knockout format, saw Waramuri receive $100,000 in kind, along with trophies and medals.

Marian Academy took home $75,000 for second place, while Potaro Primary earned $50,000 for third place, and St John The Baptist Primary received $25,000 for fourth place.
