Vishok Persaud Dominates GMR&SC Dakota 100 Endurance Series Opener

Kicking off the 2024 racing calendar, Vishok Persaud secured a resounding victory and set a new lap record at the Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club’s (GMR&SC) Dakota 100 Endurance Series.

The event, held at the recently resurfaced South Dakota circuit, witnessed intense competition among 35 cars navigating the 1.6-mile track.

Persaud, at the helm of the KTM X-Bow GT4, not only emerged as the overall winner but also established a blistering new lap record of 22.421 seconds, signaling a powerful start to the racing season and putting competitors on notice.

The endurance challenge comprised 100 laps, and Persaud showcased his dominance by completing the race in 2 hours, 35 minutes, and 27.591 seconds.

Shiraz Roshandin and Adrian Fernandes secured the next best positions, both stopping at 98 laps.

In the unlimited class, Anand Ramchand delivered an impressive performance with 96 laps.

Meanwhile, 16-year-old Anthony Evelyn claimed victory in the 1500cc class, completing 91 laps.

Shiraz Roshandin dominated the 1600cc class with 98 laps, and Richard Hamid secured a well-deserved win in the 2000cc class, completing 85 laps.

Despite missing the podium, Matthew Vieira set a new bike endurance lap record, clocking 1 minute and 20.712 seconds.

The success of the event sets the stage for the second round of the GMR&SC Dakota 100 Endurance Series scheduled for July 14.

Looking ahead, the GMRSC will return to the South Dakota circuit for the drag racing series starting on February 18, promising more thrilling action for motorsport enthusiasts.
