Virtual Reality Golf Comes to Guyana

In an initiative to enhance the accessibility and development of golf in Guyana, the Dutch marine contractor Van Oord has teamed up with the local Nexgen Golf Academy to introduce Virtual Reality (VR) golf to Guyanese students.

This innovative partnership aims to revolutionize golf training in Guyana by using VR technology to simulate golf courses.

This approach will allow young players to experience the sport without the need for large physical spaces traditionally required for golf.

Aleem Hussain, President of the Guyana Golf Association (GGA), highlighted the significance of this VR system, noting that it enables golf training in remote areas.

With VR headsets, students can virtually engage with golf courses, providing an immersive experience that brings the game to those who may not have easy access to traditional facilities.

Hussain expressed enthusiasm for the project, predicting that it will be a game-changer for sports development in Guyana.

He emphasized that this VR system represents a significant leap forward in modernizing sports education and is a pioneering move in the country’s sports landscape.

The VR equipment will be distributed across Guyana throughout July, marking a key development in the GGA’s efforts to support and expand the sport of golf in local communities.
