During last weekend’s cabinet outreach in Region 10, Minister of Labour Joseph Hamilton and Minister within the Ministry of Housing and Water Susan Rodrigues announced the government’s commitment to rebuild the Victory Valley Community Centre.
The decision comes after a meeting with residents of the area, where a range of community concerns were addressed.
The community centre had suffered a devastating fire in March 2019, leading to its destruction.
Minister Susan Rodrigues emphasized the government’s duty to engage with every citizen of Guyana, highlighting the importance of community-centered initiatives.
Residents also raised additional concerns, including the need for youth training programs, legal documentation for land ownership, creek dredging, and the necessity for more footpaths in the community.
In response, the Ministers pledged swift resolutions to these challenges.
Residents expressed gratitude for the government’s support and welcomed the outreach effort.
A similar outreach was conducted at the Linden Foundation Secondary School in Amelia’s Ward.
