Vice President Jagdeo Refutes Claims of Nepotism by Opposition Leader

Vice President Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo has dismissed accusations of nepotism and favoritism leveled against the PPP/C government by Opposition Leader Aubrey Norton.

Responding to Norton’s New Year’s message, where he accused the government of benefiting friends and families, Vice President Jagdeo stated that a factual examination would reveal that the only party guilty of such practices was the PNC-led APNU.

During a media conference, Vice President Jagdeo refuted Norton’s claims, labeling them as filled with lies, half-truths, and divisiveness.

He went on to list various programs and compared the majority beneficiaries under the APNU/AFC government to those under the PPP/C administration, including healthcare, land allocation, and the SLED program.

Vice President Jagdeo asserted that the APNU government failed to meet the expectations of ordinary Guyanese, including its own supporters.

He emphasized that the PPP/C government aims to govern for all citizens, dispelling claims of favoritism.

Addressing allegations of misusing oil resources, Vice President Jagdeo highlighted that over 350,000 Guyanese have directly benefited from the country’s oil resources.

He concluded by challenging the opposition’s narrative, emphasizing the government’s commitment to inclusive and equitable development.
