On the fourth day of the Guyana Energy Conference and Supply Chain Expo, Vice President Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo engaged with young professionals, high school students, and university attendees in a youth forum focused on national development and opportunities in the oil and gas industry.

The event, attended by hundreds of young people, provided a platform for discussions on government initiatives and future opportunities.

Participants shared their perspectives, highlighting the forum’s role in broadening their understanding of the industry and its long-term impact on youth.

Marine cadet Shemar Morrison described the session as an essential opportunity for young people to grasp the significance of local content in Guyana’s development.

University of Guyana Student Society Junior Vice President, Khadija Fyffe, found the engagement insightful, noting that it addressed many pressing questions on students’ minds.

Welding student Jeremiah Cummings remarked that the discussions shed light on the systematic approaches being implemented behind the scenes, reinforcing the need for young citizens to position themselves to benefit from these advancements.

During the forum, Dr. Jagdeo reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring that all investments contribute to the growth and well-being of the younger generation.

He emphasized that the country’s resources are a legacy for the youth and assured them of continued government support in education, including funding for scholarships without financial restrictions.
