USA Tri-State U17 Dominates GCB Eleven in Guyana Tour Opener

In a commanding display of cricket prowess, the USA Tri-State Under-17 team secured a resounding 10-wicket victory against the GCB Eleven during their tour of Guyana.

The match took place at the Malteenoes Sports Club in Thomas Lands, marking the Tri-State team’s first win on their Guyanese tour.

The encounter, played over 40 overs, saw the Tri-State team exhibiting dominance in all facets of the game.

Batting first, the GCB Eleven struggled to find momentum, eventually being dismissed for 138 runs in 38.3 overs.

Dhanesh Persaud top-scored for the GCB with an unbeaten 41, supported by opener Shane Shivbarran’s 26.

However, the rest of the batting lineup failed to contribute significantly.

Yathaarth Singh was the pick of the Tri-State bowlers, claiming four wickets for 25 runs in 6.3 overs, with valuable support from Arjun Sharma and Tanmay Joshi, who both took two wickets each.

In pursuit of the target, the Tri-State team chased down the total with ease, reaching 139 runs without losing a wicket in just 27.3 overs.

Openers Saharsh Shwethan and Ashwath Gurumurthy starred with impressive performances, forging an unbeaten 142-run partnership.

Shwethan remained not out on 78, while Gurumurthy contributed 50 runs to seal the emphatic victory.

Speaking after the match, Head Coach Linden Fraser of the USA Tri-State expressed his admiration for the talent displayed by young players in Guyana.

Fraser acknowledged the contributions of local coaches and emphasized the potential for further development and collaboration between cricketing communities.

The victory marks a successful start to the USA Tri-State team’s tour of Guyana and highlights the caliber of cricketing talent present in both nations.
