Region Three’s economy continues to expand with increased private investments, the latest being the opening of a new medical hub by a US-based Guyanese medical professional.
Phillip McPherson, a seasoned Medical Emergency Practitioner with over 30 years of experience, has inaugurated the OLMAC Medical Hub in Vreed en Hoop, West Coast Demerara.
McPherson embarked on this project two years ago, driven by a desire to give back to his homeland and provide high-quality medical care.
The OLMAC Medical Hub offers a range of services, including dialysis, urgent care, dental care, and wound and diabetic foot care, among others.
McPherson shared the challenges faced during the project but emphasized his determination to see it through, driven by his deep passion for medicine.
Minister of Health, Dr. Frank Anthony, lauded the investment, noting that it highlights the transformative changes occurring within the health sector and should inspire similar investments.
He emphasized that such contributions are crucial as the health sector undergoes significant transformation.
The OLMAC Medical Hub will feature a rotation of medical practitioners from the USA, ensuring the availability of multiple medical services.
This development not only enhances the healthcare infrastructure in Region Three but also exemplifies the positive impact of diaspora investments on local communities.
