Action Invest Caribbean has forged a partnership with a UK-based Tourism and Hospitality company to provide accredited training aimed at empowering young minds with internationally recognized skills.
The Confederation of Tourism and Hospitality (CTH) institute, headquartered in London, is actively engaged in offering training and education to both skilled professionals and academically inclined individuals in Guyana.
This initiative is in collaboration with local company Action Invest.
Through tailored programs and courses, participants will receive comprehensive training to excel in various roles within the tourism and hospitality sector.
Steven Beckworth, CTH’s Director of Marketing and Business Development, highlighted the challenges faced by the local industry and expressed optimism about its potential.
Beckworth emphasized the importance of upskilling local talent to address the shortage of skilled and qualified staff and improve staff retention.
He emphasized the value of practical work and creativity in fulfilling the needs of the industry.
Chairman of Action Invest, Vishnu Doerga, shared insights into the origins of the partnership, which began three years ago.
He underscored the crucial need for qualified and trained personnel to deliver a high-quality tourism and hospitality product to both locals and visitors.
The program has already attracted around one hundred participants, including GOAL beneficiaries, with plans to onboard another one hundred in the coming month.
Additionally, several Tourism and Hospitality agencies, including the Marriott Hotel, Grand Coastal, and Ramada Princess Hotel, were recognized and awarded Gold Employer Status for their contributions to the sector.
This collaboration between Action Invest Caribbean and the UK-based company marks a significant effort to enhance the capabilities of individuals in Guyana’s tourism and hospitality sector, contributing to the overall growth and development of the industry.
