Upgraded Cliff Anderson Sports Hall: Christmas Gift for Sports

December 24, 2024

Minister of Sport, Charles Ramson Jr., has announced that the long-awaited gift for sports enthusiasts will be revealed on Christmas Day: the upgraded Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.

The facility, which has been undergoing extensive renovations, is set to open its doors after weeks of final touch-ups by contractors.

Minister Ramson Jr. shared, “We want this facility to be one that all athletes, coaches, and sports fans can be proud of, and we’re excited to present it on Christmas Day.”

He added that the sports hall will be fully air-conditioned and ready for use, with plans to install bucket seats once the next budget for the Ministry is approved.

The newly renovated sports hall will host major year-end events such as the One Guyana futsal championship final and the December fight night featuring top boxer Elton Dharry.

The government has invested significant resources into the renovations of this iconic venue.

In 2022, 47 million dollars were spent, followed by 237 million dollars in 2023, and an additional 67 million dollars in 2024.

These investments have ensured that the facility is modernized, complete with corporate suites, state-of-the-art air-conditioning, and new furnishings.

Many sports disciplines use the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall for both training and hosting competitions, making this upgrade a major boost for Guyanese sports.
