The Kwakwani Untouchables and Victory Valley Royals both demonstrated their dominance in the Guyana Basketball Federation’s National Elite 16 Tournament on Saturday evening at the National Gymnasium, securing impressive victories over their respective opponents.
In the first match, the Kwakwani Untouchables delivered a commanding performance, defeating the South Ruimveldt Mambas 89-68.
The Untouchables were in control from the start, taking a 25-13 lead after the first quarter due to their quick counterattacks.
They continued to increase their lead throughout the game, scoring 40 points by halftime while limiting the Mambas to 27.
The Untouchables’ defense tightened in the third quarter, as they outscored the Mambas 28-9, ultimately securing a comfortable 21-point victory.
Captain Stanton Rose highlighted the importance of communication and defense in their success, noting that while the team’s offensive game was solid, they would continue working on areas such as fitness, turnovers, and rebounding for their upcoming match.
In the feature match of the evening, Victory Valley Royals dominated Plaisance Guardians with a 93-58 victory.
The Royals began strong, leading 26-12 after the first quarter, and extended their advantage in the second quarter by scoring 49 points while holding Plaisance to just 10.
They continued to control the game, adding 28 points in the third quarter and limiting their opponents to just nine.
The Royals finished the game strong, securing the win with a 35-point margin.
The GBF National Elite 16 tournament continues this Wednesday at the National Gymnasium, with both teams looking to maintain their strong performances.
